Biracial/Mixed Hair Journey #1 Hair Post
Hey y’all!
In an interracial marriage and family there’s a lot of learning that constantly takes place. So having a son that is mixed, I didn’t think much of caring for his hair (until now). I figured if I had a daughter, I would have had to figure things out, but I realize how dumb that is now. Boys can have long hair too. Boys can have curly hair too. Glad I realized that and put that out there! So my son up to this point has had hair that hasn’t needed much. Within the past few months though, his curls have started to really take form and now he has a combination of textures! I didn’t even understand what textured hair was, and now, I’m still learning. I’m really at the beginning of this hair journey with my son, and I’ve been having so much fun with it. I’m trying out products and seeing what exactly he needs when. Here are some photos documenting the start of our journey. Since we are vegan, I had to dig a bit to make sure the products are vegan. All Mixed Chicks products are vegan. Argan oil is totally in the clear too. Camille Rose is mostly vegan (the creator of the company is vegan herself). Then the Jane Carter product we got has a vegan label on it. You’ll see a picture of the products I went with. Though the first two pictures were taken at Target, I ended up getting products at Meijer (a supermarket we have out in Michigan where we live).
This will be a consistent thing I probably post about as his hair is still growing and changing, and I’m having so much fun with it. I love his curls and want to encourage him to love them too! You’ll see pictures of his hair below!
Love and peace,
